Itinerary

Pick up from the hotel at 6.00 - 6.30 am to go to the train station of Poroy or Ollantaytambo. We take the train that takes us to km. 104 of the Ollantaytrambo - Machu Picchu railway line, the starting point of our trek where we arrive around 10.00 am.

On the way we will have magnificent views of the Urubamba river valley, as well as a beautiful waterfall located a few minutes from Wiñaywayna.

First we visit the archaeological group of Chacha bamba (2150 m), located very close to the control point, and then we start an 8 km hike uphill for approximately 4 h, towards the archaeological complex of Wiñaywayna at 2700 m.a.s.l. (Siempre Joven). This is an impressive archaeological complex composed of an agricultural sector with numerous terraces, a religious sector and an urban sector.

Afterwards, we continue our hike along the Inca trail, going through a stretch of jungle landscape until we reach Intipunku or Puerta del Sol (Sun Gate). From this fabulous place we will see for the first time the sacred city of Machu Picchu (2450 m), then we descend 40 minutes approx. to the top of Machu Picchu Enigmatic, passing by the "House of the Guardians" and then descend to the departure point to take our bus to Aguas Calientes (25 minutes). Accommodation and overnight at the selected hotel in Aguas Calientes.

  • Schedule: 06:00 - 18:00.
  • Feeding: Lunch, Snack and Dinner.
  • Accommodation: Aguas Calientes.

After breakfast we leave the hotel to take a bus to Machu Picchu, where we begin our guided tour of the Inca citadel that will last approximately 2 hours and a half. Afterwards, you will have free time to walk around the city or climb the Huayna Picchu mountain, from where you have spectacular views of Machu Picchu, the valleys and mountains that surround it, or visit the Temple of the Moon and the impressive Inca Bridge.

Our meeting place in the afternoon will be in Aguas Calientes, where you can optionally visit and relax in its hot springs. Finally, we take the train back to Ollantaytambo or Poroy and then to the city of Cusco.
