Immortal Inca Trail to Machupicchu
4 days

Immortal Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Learn and follow the footsteps of the Incas to the Immortal citadel of Machu Picchu. This is a great challenge for those travelers interested in touring and walking the Inca Trail. Daily treks are 8 to 7 hours approx. through a route with an impressive historical richness. Arriving at Inti Pinku or Sun Gate, one of the most impressive wonders of today is observed in all its fullness.

Enough time to visit the most important archaeological city of the Incas Machu Picchu and then return by train to the city of Cusco.

Very Important: Although the Inca Trail Expeditions regulations state that reservations should be made 3 months in advance, it is advisable to make the reservation well in advance, the average in high season indicates that 90 days before departure there is no more space, this because only 500 people can go per day, only then can be preserved from erosion and contamination of the road network and the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

Itinerary

Our adventure begins with an early morning pick up from your hotel in our transportation for a spectacular journey to the Sacred Valley of the Incas that will take us to the starting point, kilometer 82 (Piscakucho), of the train track to Machu Picchu, the starting point of our trek.

After introducing ourselves to the support staff, we set off on this magical, spectacular and unique trail. We walk for about two hours through the Urubamba canyon until we reach the imposing sculpted terraces of Llaqtapata, the first archaeological site, located in a beautiful natural settlement on the banks of the tributary river, the Cusichaca. Then we ascend for two hours to Wayllabamba.

  • Feeding: Lunch and Dinner.
  • Accommodation: Camp Wayllabamba.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, our second day of adventure begins. This day we ascend 1200 meters. On our hike we pass a torrential stream and enter a tropical area called cloud forest, which leads us to the valley of Llulluchapampa where we cross a small plateau and abruptly we will find ourselves in the puna, the grasslands unpopulated by trees, where we will have one of the most spectacular views in the Abra highest point of our journey Warmiwañusca (4200 meters above sea level) where we will have two well marked geographical views: On one side snow-capped mountains and on the other side beautiful semi-tropical valleys. We follow the road downhill to the Pacaymayu valley located at 3,600 masl.

  • Feeding: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
  • Accommodation: Camp Pacaymayu.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we ascend to the Runkuracay pass located at 3900 meters above sea level; on the way we find an Inca staircase, we border a lagoon at the top of the mountains, where the landscape opens on new spectacular views towards the snowy peaks of the Pumasillo chain until we reach the Inca archaeological site called Runkurakay.

Then we descend to the archaeological complex of SayacmarKa (inaccessible village), an intricate labyrinth of houses, squares and water channels.

On our way through Chaquicocha after a well deserved rest, we will enter a rainforest on the road that leads us to the highest Inca construction called Phuyupatamarka. Then we begin a long descent down endless and impressive stairs of living stone. Pausing to explore the wonderful labyrinth of fountains, steps and towers of Inca stone that turn down the slope of Phuyupatamarca, then we continue with the long descent through different ever-changing floors that will lead us to the magical citadel of Wiñaywayna (Forever Young), the largest and most exquisite of the archaeological sites of the Inca Trail. We will have dinner and a farewell moment with our support staff.

  • Feeding: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
  • Accommodation: Camp Wiñaywayna.

Very early in the morning, we make a light hike to the Intipunku, known as the door of the sun, where for the first time we appreciate the mysterious citadel of Machu Picchu, "Lost City of the Incas".

We descend the mountain to reach our expected destination Machu Picchu, the greatest archaeological city of recent times nestled in the Andes Mountains, showing us at every step, the challenge of the Incas to nature and likewise showing us the harmony they achieved with it, along with our guide will have a guided tour of about two hours and then have free time for photography and optionally you can climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (reservation required). From where we will have a beautiful view of the citadel of Machu Picchu.

After enjoying and marveling we descend by bus to Agua Calientes where we board the train back to Ollantaytambo or Poroy and then transfer from the station to your hotel.
